Our Region
The Chicago HIDTA region includes Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kendall, Kankakee, Lake, and Will Counties in Illinois. This area combines one of the nation’s largest metropolitan centers with key highway, rail, and air corridors that influence drug trafficking patterns across the Midwest.
Our Mission
The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Program strengthens and coordinates America’s drug‑control efforts among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Our mission is to reduce drug trafficking and its harmful consequences by improving cooperation, sharing intelligence, and supporting joint enforcement strategies.
How We Work
- Coordinate multi‑agency investigations
- Support intelligence‑driven enforcement
- Disrupt production, distribution, and transportation of illegal drugs
- Target money laundering and financial networks
- Encourage programs that reduce drug demand and chronic use
- Provide training and technical assistance
Investigative Support
Data analysis, case support, and information sharing through the Investigative Support Center (ISC).

Building capacity among professionals through specialized training and technical support.
